Erstwhile the holy city of Ajmer was the empire of Chauhan dynasty. The city was founded by Ajay Pal Chauhan in the 7th Ajmer Sharif, Ajmer Tours & Travels century. Dargah Sharif is the main attraction of Ajmer. It is shrine tomb of the Sufi Saint Khawaja Moinuddin Chisti who came here from Persia. Brahma Temple :

An important pilgrim centre for the Hindus, the Brahma Temple is nestled in the Pushkar valley, which lies beyond the Nagaparvat and Anasagar Lake. This place, filled with natural picturesque beauty, holds a special place in the hearts of the Indians. It is believed that Lord Brahma, together with all the gods and goddesses, performed a Yagya here. Legend also has it that the ancient Lake Sarovar had appeared miraculously, when a lotus fell from the hands of Lord Brahma and dropped into this valley. Brahma Temple is the only temple dedicated to Lord Brahma (the creator of the universe according to Hindu mythology) in the entire country. You can identify it from far, by its red spire and the image of a hans (the goose considered sacred to Lord Brahma). Built in marble, the temple is decorated with silver coins and reveals a silver turtle on its floor.

Pushkar Lake :

The pious Pushkar Lake, believed to have been created by the falling of lotus from the hand of Lord Brahma. It is considered to be as old as the creation. The lake is considered as one of the most sacred spots, and believed that one dip in the waters of lake on Kartika Poornima is equivalent to performing yagnas for several hundred years.

The charming lake amidst the hills has fifty-two bathing ghats, built around lake. The water around each ghat is supposed to have special powers. The Naga Kund is belived to give fertility, Roop Tirth gives beauty and charm, Kapil Vyapi Kund water helps in curing leprosy and a dip in the Mrikand Muni Kund grants the boon of wisdom.

Urs Ajmer Fair : June

Urs Ajmer Fair lets Muslims enjoy to the most. On the actual day, they visit the hallowed dargah of Sufi saint with the intention to offer him prayers and get his blessings. They also sing quwwallis and other several programs all night to create brotherhood and happiness amongst people of different backgrounds. The Urs, the death anniversary of the saint includes dazzling celebrations that continue for six days, out of which, the foremost one is the tradition to hoist of a white flag on the tomb by his (successor-representative), Sajdanashin of the Chishtia order.

The tomb over the desired days is customary sprinkled on with sandalwood paste and rosewater, poetry recitation in his appreciation, and aficionados also not forget to offer nazranas in order to earn his undying benevolence. Further, in the exteriors of the dargah surrounds, you may also come across two giant cauldrons cook sweet rice seasoned with condiments and dry fruits to be dished out as sanctified food or 'tabarukh'

Pushkar Fair : Oct - Nov
Pushkar Fair is the yearly five-day camel and livestock fair, celebrated in the town of Pushkar in the state of Rajasthan, India. It is one of the world's largest camel fair apart from buying and selling of livestock, and its highlights have become competitions such as the "matka phod", "longest moustache", and "bridal competitions" are the main draws for this fair which attracts thousands of tourists. People throughout the country are allowed to visit the fair to sell their live stocks as well. Handicrafts have much demand in the mela as worldwide tourists visit the destination to buy attractive arts and crafts. An estimated number of around 50,000 camels are brought in the Pushkar camel festival. In recent years the fair has also included an exhibition cricket match between the local Pushkar club and a team of random foreign tourists. People enjoy the dances, music, camel races and many other exciting competitions.

The Pushkar Festival in Rajasthan comes to an end on the day of Kartik Purnima. On this day, ritual bathing on the ghats of Pushkar Lake begins at dawn. There is quite a rush for getting a place on the bathing ghats. The water of the Lake is believed to possess medicinal powers and also wash away the sins of a lifetime. After holy dip, the devotees visit the Brahma temple to get his blessings. The first five days of the festival in Rajasthan are for selling and purchase of the cattle. The prospective buyer is attracted by the owner by admiring his animal with long list of qualities. The buying and selling may take some time because of long-drawn negotiations and bargains. Once the deal is over, the animals are groomed and ornamented at the festival particularly the camel. After shearing and scrubbing, the camel is costumed and sometimes even perfumed handmade saddles, long strings of cowries, beads, colorful saddle-straps, embroidered back-covers and boots are available for the camels.
